Our private island, Rakinkotka, is located just a 10-minute boat ride from the mainland. Guests are transported to the island on a large boat, departing from our private shoreline, where cars can be safely parked.
The 27-hectare island has 3.8 km of shoreline, offering plenty of space for fishing. Located close to the open sea, Rakinkotka boasts a unique and lush deciduous forest. The island is a paradise for nature lovers and a prime spot for birdwatching, especially in the spring when migratory birds pass by.

If you are coming to fish from the Helsinki area, we recommend visiting Finland’s largest fishing tackle store, located about a 10-minute drive from Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The store is called Ruoto – check out their website here.
Our staff can provide meals, assist with sauna heating, or arrange mainland transport. You can also hire a fishing guide to explore the best fishing spots.
Rakinkotka offers several rental cabins that you can explore here.
The island is powered by its own eco-friendly power plant, utilizing solar and wind energy. All buildings are designed with respect for traditional island architecture, featuring reclaimed materials such as old logs, storm-felled trees, and Thermowood.
You can fish from the shore or by boat. The island’s shoreline is easily accessible, with rocky and gently sloping areas perfect for fishing.
Target Fish Species
Sea trout fishing is best suited for experienced anglers, as it requires skill and knowledge. Pike and perch are easier targets for casual fishermen.
Wading gear is recommended for shore fishing, though not required. With waders, you can cover more fishing areas efficiently.

A small open boat is available for fishing in nearby waters. While we do not recommend long-distance trips, the boat is perfect for reaching nearby islands and exploring their shorelines.
Shore fishing: Savage Gear Sandeel Line Thru lures – These imitate the small fish (herring, sprat, sand eel) that sea trout feed on.
Boat fishing: Heavier lures such as Abu Toby or Westin Great Heron, with silver being a reliable color to mimic herring.
Finland has a strong lure-making tradition, and small Finnish manufacturers produce excellent sea trout lures. Popular brands include Jking Vekkuli and E.V. Trutta.
Vimpa Island helps arrange fishing licenses. Finland’s national fishing permit allows angling in most marine areas, except for restricted zones. No restricted areas near Rakinkotka.
Barbless hooks or pinched barbs are required when fishing for sea trout.
Stocked sea trout (with clipped adipose fins) may be kept if they are 50 cm or larger.
Wild sea trout (intact adipose fin) must be released.
Only 30 km away, you’ll find Southern Finland’s most significant river fishing destination, the Kymi River.
